Ed Summers raised almost $6,000 for the San Buenaventura Friends of the Library on July 25, 2009. Summers and dance partner Pamela Pilkenton participated with other local notables in the Oxnard Salsa Festival's Dancing with Our Community Stars.

In a salsa-twist to the hit TV show, six area "stars" were paired with six of the area's best dance instructors for a salsa dance showdown. Each raised money for their favorite local charities.
